Welcome!

I’m Jenny

THE CRAVE TRAVELER

I was born in England and moved to the US when I was little. I grew up in Northern Virginia and then moved to Orlando. In 2018, I decided I wanted to see what life was like in another country (because I didn’t remember anything from my time in the UK!), so I moved to England!

My parents were big into travel when I was growing up, so I was lucky enough to take family vacations only some people dream of. My first flight was to Italy when I could barely walk and I guess you could say that’s where I caught the “travel bug”.

Discover first-timer guides, curated itineraries, and expert travel tips to help you dream big and explore the world!

What The Crave Traveler is all about

The Crave Traveler’s main goal is to inspire you to travel through detailed posts and wanderlusty photos. I mainly focus on UK and European travel, but you will find other destinations from around the world on here.

I do highlight the iconic sights and cities, but you will find a lot of underrated places and off the beaten path destinations to help you plan a culturally immersive and locally authentic vacation.

Behind the Blog

How it all started

I have always had a love for writing and creating! In 1997, at the height of the Beanie Babies craze, I set out to create my first website, Bean Talk. I would share reviews on Beanie Babies and take photos of my favorites and post it on my Geocities website (remember, Geocities?! OMG)

Fast forward to 2012, when I created my food blog, The Crave Gallery. An unfortunate techinal error left my blog nonexsistant and without a backup (ALWAYS create a backup, lesson learned), I had no choice but to quit.

In 2017, I started noticing I was sharing more travel tips with my friends who didn’t travel and I inspired them to travel. I loved helping everyone and realized I shouldn’t be limiting myself, so The Crave Traveler was born. A play on my previous lost blog and the feeling I had everytime I thought about traveling.

FAQ

I have a problem with falling in love with every destination I travel to, even if something goes wrong, I try to find the beauty in every place I visit… is that actually my toxic trait? And although I love everywhere I have been, the stand out destinations for me are Gozo (Malta), Yosemite National Park (USA), and Rapallo (Italy).

I actually have three go-to airlines. For international travel, I love Virgin Atlantic. The flight attendants are always amazing and the business class seats are nice and roomy for a long-haul flight. For holiday destinations around Europe, I try to fly with Jet2 as much as possible. Their flights are (mostly) reliable and they have a lot of early morning departures. For everything else there is Ryanair. They have budget-friendly flights and fly to some of the lesser-known places in Europe.

I guess technically I’ve been blogging since 1997 with my very first Geocities website in middle school, but 2012 was my first real, profitable blog!

I will absolutely teach you how to start your own travel blog! My guide to everything about blogging… from creating your website to making it profitable will be coming soon!

While I enjoy seeing the friendly faces of the front desk staff checking me in, I prefer staying in an apartment. You normally get a more local experience and you have more freedom when it comes to check-in/check-out times.
